SMART 2 – Tachograph Control Without Stopping for Possible Manipulation:
- Exceeding the maximum driving time (daily, weekly, or bi-weekly)
- Calibration data, including dates of the last two calibrations
- The most recent security breach attempt
- Longest power outage
- Sensor malfunction
- Movement data errors
- Vehicle movement conflicts
- Driving without a valid card
- Inserting a card while driving
- Availability of the latest GNSS position
- Vehicle registration
- Speed recorded by the tachograph
System Operation
The control system can read data through:
- Fixed units installed along the road
- Mobile units in motion
Data is read at short distances—vehicles must pass close to the control system (radar).
If irregularities are detected, the control has the right to stop the vehicle for further checks to determine whether the issue is due to faulty data or a legitimate error. In such cases, the tachograph and driver card can be manually read, and additional analyses performed.
System Limitations
It is important to note that short-distance control cannot read data about driver working times, such as daily and weekly rest periods, weekly working hours, or other working time records.
Compliance Pays Off!Vehicles with accurate records will not be unnecessarily stopped, saving time and avoiding potential stress and penalties.
Advantages of the Second-Generation Smart Tachograph:
- Easy to use for drivers
- Automatic recording of border crossings
- Additional alerts for driver working hours and rest periods
With the new Gen2v2 card issued by AKD, Croatia’s authorized card issuer, drivers can utilize all the benefits of the SMART2 tachograph.
